Issues Submitting to Records centre? "The record centre cannot be found or accessed"

If you are having problems submitting Documents or Document Sets to a Records Centre you may have encountered one of the following errors.

The record centre cannot be found or accessed

An Error occurred while sending the file to the Records Centre
Unknown Error (Very useful!)

The first thing to do is dig into the logs and trace the correlation ID, you may then find a more helpful error to point you in the right direction.

Example - Site is not properly configured for this request

Always test your send to connection from Central Administration to check that it is using a valid routing destination (http://servername/site/_vti_bin/officialfile.asmx).

Potential configuration issues that could be causing one the above errors and always worth checking when troubleshooting sent to errors are:

Permissions! - Check that the application pool account used by the site you are sending from is in the Records Centre Web Service Submitters group.

Does your drop off library have the required content types added?

If submitting Document Sets to the Records Centre be sure that the Document Sets Site Collection feature is enabled on the destination Records Centre.

Be sure to set up appropriate Content Organizer rules for all of the content types associated with the drop off library (I have seen errors occur when trying to submit a document set because there was no content organiser rule set up at the destination Records Centre)

  3. We had this issue. The reason why it was failing is because we had blocked ZIP file types. the record Center uses ZIP file format so after we unblocked it, the record center started working again. Krill123
